A slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. (John 8:35, 36)

One Process – Many Facets

I recently listened to a webcast by Paul Keith Davis in which he referred to the Lord “galvanizing” His saints (1).  To galvanize something in this usage means to coat something (usually iron or steel) with a protective layer of zinc so that it cannot be destroyed through the process of corrosion.  Personally, with my family’s background in construction, this brings to mind galvanized nails or building materials.

To become galvanized in the spiritual sense would mean that the Lord has worked in us to a degree that we have no “chinks in our armor,” so to speak, through which the enemy (Satan) can attempt to “corrode” or corrupt us.  While our spirits are reborn at the moment of salvation, the renewing of the mind and soul of the believer is an ongoing process. (See John 3:3-5; Rom. 12:2; 2 Cor. 3:18.)

I, too, believe we have been in a season in which the Lord has been galvanizing us – His saints.  If we are to operate at the levels of increased power and authority that God has prepared for the saints of this age (see the article, The Days of Elijah), we must be both strong enough to withstand the enemy of our souls and wise enough to his strategies that we can effectively advance God’s purposes.

This galvanizing process has many facets.  Godly character is one aspect of the process wrought in His saints over time, and by Christ’s own example we are made perfect through suffering.  His triumph over him who has the power of death (the devil) releases us from his bondage! (See Heb. 2:10-18.)

Other aspects include answering His call to holiness (1 Pet. 1:15) and pressing on to maturity to manifest the doctrines of Christ (Heb. 6:1-3).  Almost any aspect you could think of in this process cannot be completed without also confronting the demonic strongholds which can be present in our lives; these strongholds can range from fairly simple to extremely complex.

You could think of a demonic stronghold as a structure composed of a foundation provided by sins of the fathers and resulting curses – with walls/towers/rooms constructed from our own sins, ungodly belief structures, soul and spirit hurts and demonic oppression. (2)

This is obviously a complex and in-depth subject. For the purposes of this article, we will focus largely on the topic of freemasonry and the subsequent curses that involvement with secret organizations and their rituals bring.

Until the church becomes aware of the bondage brought about by freemasonry, she will not see the destiny of individuals – or nations – fulfilled to the degree that God has planned.

Open Doors of Opportunity

While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage. (2 Pet. 2:19)

The first mention of a door by which Satan can work against us is in Genesis 4:7.  In this passage the Lord spoke to Cain and told him if he did those things which were right in God’s eyes, he would be accepted.  And if he did not, the Lord continued, “sin lies at the door.  And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”

In a similar fashion, doors open through our obedience to the Lord – and through these doors come blessing.  We could summarize the principle of open doors by saying that obedience to God creates open doors of opportunity for blessing, and disobedience to God creates open doors of opportunity for curses to operate against us.

The scriptural foundation for this important truth is found in Deuteronomy 28.  Verses 1-14 list the amazing blessing upon those who obey the Lord’s voice and observe His commands.  The voice is the rhema, or prophetic word of the Lord, and the commandments are the logos, or written word of God.  The key to fulfilling destiny – as individuals or as nations – is found in this passage: to hear, understand, and obey the voice and commands of the Lord.

Conversely, the curses resulting from disobedience (vs. 15-68) steal our destiny and rob us of our inheritance in God. (John 10:10) Relative to freemasonry, the tricky part is that many believers do not understand its occultic ties to divination or direct opposition to the gospel—for instance, the name of Jesus cannot be used, and all religions are treated as being equal. (See John 14:6.)

To achieve and defend our blood-bought freedom, we must take a closer look at their rituals and understand the context of their good works.  We cannot “open blind eyes” and “bring out prisoners from prison” if we are blind and in prison ourselves. (Isa. 42:7)

Getting Past Your Breakthrough

My experience as a believer was that from the time I was saved at around 10 years old up until my early 40’s, I never once heard anyone teach or speak about freemasonry.  I went to church regularly, attended Bible studies – even went to Bible school – but never heard it mentioned.  If I had even thought to ask, I’m sure I would have heard some explanation that Christ’s death sets us free from any bondage and that some people are too paranoid and “look for the devil under every rock.”

I don’t recommend looking for the devil under every rock, and scripture actually instructs us to think on those things that are honest, just and true. (Phil. 4:8) However, I have also learned that what you don’t know about demonic strongholds like freemasonry can hurt you—ignorance in the area of curses and strongholds is not bliss!

Sometime in my mid-forties, now an ordained Spirit filled pastor who had already experienced a great deal of deliverance and generational healing, I attended a prophetic healing and deliverance conference.  To my surprise, as the opening speaker gave his message (which I had not realized would focus on freemasonry) the Spirit of the Lord began stirring strongly in me.  I had no knowledge of any ancestors being freemasons, but it appeared the Lord was trying to get my attention.

Upon leaving the meeting, a severe migraine set in.  These were horrible, wretched attacks I’d been subject to all my adult life. Sometimes they’d last for two full days and leave me wondering if I’d even survive.  However, I managed to drag myself to the next day’s meeting because I sensed somehow I’d find freedom down this path.

Once there, I didn’t last long, but had to run from my seat for the exit to vomit!  It was humbling, for sure, as a pastor to publicly manifest demons, but I am grateful to this day that their cover was exposed.

Thankfully, there were deliverance teams on hand, and they found a willing customer in me. Prophetically it was revealed that, indeed, there were occultic curses operating in bloodlines—everything from masonic blood oaths and ritualistic curses to tarot card reading, and I don’t even remember what else!  But even then the headache raged on, and they continued to plague me over the next four or five years.

I had always had a strong sense that the headaches were deeply rooted in generational issues (my mother had them), and eventually there was a place of rest I had to enter.  I had prayed every prayer, broken every curse, received every opportunity for prayer and ministry—done every thing I possibly knew how to do to cooperate with the Lord.  And still they persisted.

One night, probably four or five years after this conference, I unexpectedly heard the voice of the Lord speak to me in the night.  I heard, “I’m burning the headaches off of you – you won’t have them anymore.”  This really got my attention because I had a vague recollection of a prophet speaking a related word of scripture relative to headaches over me years before.

The next morning I got out an old Bible and found the verse, with the date it was given written beside it.  Six and a half years earlier, the Lord had given this prophet Matthew 3:12 specific to these headaches.  John the Baptist was speaking of Jesus when he said, “He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.” (Vs. 11) Verse 12 continues:

His winnowing fork is in His hand, and He will clear His threshing floor, gathering His wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire. (NIV)

And indeed, the headaches were gone from that time on.  I have found that especially with deeply rooted strongholds, you have to get past your breakthrough in your stronghold. Eventually, once I was past my breakthrough in what was largely an occultic/generational stronghold, the headaches disappeared.  The same hope and promise stands for you.

Ask!

Ask! What shall I give you? (2 Chron. 1:7)

Could you be affected by freemasonry without your knowledge?  If it’s not something you’ve previously considered, ask the Lord to reveal if you are now.

There are seven classic indications of a curse operating in your family lines. (When several of these problems are present, or when any one of them tends to recur repeatedly, the probability that a curse is operating increases.)

– Mental and/or emotional breakdown
– Repeated or chronic sickness (especially if hereditary, like migraines)
– Barrenness, a tendency to miscarry or related female problems
– Breakdown of marriage and family alienation
– Continuing financial insufficiency
– Being “accident-prone”
– A history of suicides and unnatural or untimely deaths (3)

We can rest assured that God will reveal strategy to pull down demonic strongholds if we ask. (See Matt. 7:7-11; 2 Cor. 10:4.) I believe, like Solomon, we can ask for the thing that most pleases God and find that He gives us that thing – and more! (2 Chron. 1:7-12) And once we are pursuing individual freedom, we should ask the Lord for the nations.  As joint heirs with Christ, His inheritance becomes ours! (Ps. 2:8; Rom. 8:17)

To see the nations become His, we must have some understanding of the totalitarian nature of freemasonry.  Satan’s desire is for one-world government, whereas God has a heart for nations. (See Gen. 11:1-9.) We cannot fully seek and defend His freedom for the nations if we do not understand that freemasonry currently serves as a conduit between the political organization of the global elite and the occult groups of the theosophical network. (4) Lord, set us free!

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Gal. 5:1, NIV)

Pray

1. That the Lord would reveal to His church the truths regarding freemasonry (and other secret societies), and that many would be set free from their resulting curses. (Deut. 28:15-68)
2. For the Lord to reveal any occultic/masonic strongholds in your own life (if you have not already done so) and the strategy to see them removed. (2 Cor. 10:4)
3. That the saints would have open eyes to see masonic influence in society for what it is, and for wisdom and strategy to implement kingdom influence in its stead. (Ps. 2:8)
