There’s a window open this Christmas to receive the gift of finding lost treasure—in whatever form that might take for you.

The Season for Gifts

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” (James 1:17, NKJV)

As we enter the season of celebrating Jesus’ birth, we can read in Matthew’s account that wise men from the East, upon seeing the young Child, opened their “treasures,” and presented gifts to Him of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. (Matt. 2:11)

Undoubtedly, in this season of gift-giving, the greatest gift any of us will ever receive is the gift of Jesus, God’s treasured only Son who came to dwell among us.

According to Dictionary.com, treasure could be defined as wealth or riches stored or accumulated, especially in the form of precious metals, money, jewels, or plate; wealth, rich materials, or valuable things. Treasure can also mean any thing or person that is greatly valued or highly prized.

Both the Hebrew and Greek words for treasure (Strong’s H4301 and G2344) carry a similar meaning of stored or hidden wealth, both material and spiritual.

I believe there’s a window open this Christmas to receive the gift of finding lost treasure—in whatever form that might take for you.

It’s the Lord or it Won’t Be

“…’Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts.” (Zech. 4:6b, NKJV)

On multiple occasions recently, I’ve had lost “treasures” miraculously appear after extended searches yielded nothing and I’d given up hope of ever finding them. The most dramatic example of this concerns finding a special necklace that went missing when we moved about two years ago.

This particular necklace is in the shape of a key, and had been a Christmas gift from me to my friend and prophetic mentor a number of years ago. She once had a prophetic word that the Lord would use her like a golden key to unlock destiny. The Lord did, in fact, use her in my life in that way, so the necklace I gave her had special meaning to both of us and she wore it almost constantly.

When this friend and mentor was diagnosed with advanced brain cancer in 2017, sensing she had only a short time left on earth, she gifted it back to me. So you can image my distress when no matter where or how hard I searched, somehow I was unable to locate it.

Finally, one day not long ago, after searching in all the same places I’d searched many times before and coming up empty handed yet again, I said to my husband: “Unless the Lord chooses to uncover that necklace for me, I’ll never see it again. I’ve searched every possible place it could be endless times. Either the Lord finds it for me, or it’s gone for good.”

A short time later I randomly decided to dust my dresser top. I stopped—did a double-take. I could not believe my eyes! There was the necklace in the dish where I keep other jewelry—right on top, like it had always been there. Except—it hadn’t.

Friends, like I told my husband, either for some reason the necklace had been invisible to me and the Lord uncovered it, or He made it appear. Either way, it was truly a miracle. I was so touched when I saw it, I almost cried.

This is not the only time this has happened recently. Right when I’ve finally given up hope of ever finding something and said, “Either it’s the Lord or it won’t be,” then the lost “treasure” appears.

A Good Heavenly Father

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” (Matt. 7:11, NKJV)

I believe the experience I had of finding my mentor’s necklace is symbolic of what God is doing in this hour. That necklace represents unlocked purpose and destiny, and a special anointing to recover what’s lost.

What kind of treasure are you hoping to find? Is it a sense of fulfillment of destiny? Or maybe it’s an object of sentimental value, like my necklace, or something related to a business or financial loss. It could be health-related or some type of generational loss, like an inheritance. Or perhaps there’s a strained (or estranged) relationship with someone you love, or even a prodigal son or daughter who has wandered away.

No matter what you’re longing to recover—ask! We have a good heavenly Father who gives good gifts to His children. He wants to restore your lost treasure this Christmas season—by His Spirit!

Merry Christmas, everyone!
